Three Crosses of Vilnius
Three Crosses of Vilnius is one of the sights of Vilnius, it is a monument in the form of three white crosses. Legend has it that many centuries ago, seven Franciscan friars were crucified on this spot. The bodies of four martyrs were thrown into the river. The crosses were erected in the XVII century. They became symbols of sorrow and hope. On Stalin’s orders, the crosses were removed and buried. The crosses you see today were made according to the surviving documents and installed in 1989. They make a deep impression both from afar and up close. Take the time to climb the mountain. From here you have a magnificent view of the city.
