Temple of All Religions
The Temple of All Religions, one of the most unique sights in Russia, is located in the village of Staroye Arakchino – 11 km from Kazan, the capital of Tatarstan, on the banks of the Volga River. It is also known as the Universal Temple, or the Temple of the Seven Religions. However, the temple is not a religious building in the usual sense – it is rather an international cultural center designed to unite followers of different faiths. The creator of the Temple of All Religions, to whose personality we will return, in his time confirmed this thesis, saying that he conceived it as a place where followers of many faiths would pray side by side. He also noted that since people have not yet come to monotheism, his project should be considered as an architectural symbol of all religious movements and a kind of museum of cults.
