Museum of Modern Art in New York
The Museum of Modern Art, or MoMA, in New York City is considered one of the best museums of its type in the world. The exhibits on display in MoMA’s relatively low bright blue hangar overlap in many ways with the Met, the Guggenheim, and the Whitney Collection – Picasso, Chagall, Dali, Magritte, Pop Art, Pollock, Rauschenberg Warhol, as well as ever-changing temporary exhibitions.

The museum was founded in 1929. It began as a small collection of eight prints and one drawing, but today the Museum of Modern Art’s collection encompasses more than 150,000 paintings, sculptures, drawings, paintings, prints, photographs, architectural models and drawings, and design objects. In addition, MoMA owns about 22,000 motion pictures and videos, as well as scripts, posters, and historical documents. The museum’s library has about 300 thousand items-books, sketchbooks owned by artists, and periodicals.

The MoMA’s collections include such notable works of art as Vincent Van Gogh’s Starry Night, Pablo Picasso’s Les Maidens d’Avignon, Salvador Dali’s Constancy of Memory, Claude Monet’s triptych Water Lilies, Henri Matisse’s Dance, Paul Cézanne’s Bather, and Frida Kahlo’s Self-Portrait with Shorn Hair.
