Sunny Island Park

General information

The first park plantings in this place appeared in the 70s of the XIX century. In those days on the island in the floodplain of the Old Kuban there was a nursery, where fruit and ornamental trees and shrubs were grown. The city park on the basis of the nursery was created in 1959. Now it occupies the territory of 39 hectares. It is noteworthy that there are preserved areas of forest 150 years old.

Residents and guests of the city come to the park “Sunny Island” to fish and feed squirrels. Many people like to walk under the shady trees and come to the park with friends for a picnic. There are sports grounds in the green zone. On the riverbank there are places for sunbathers, as well as a rental point for catamarans.

There is also a large safari park, which contains about 120 species of animals. Three times a day, visitors to the safari park can watch an interesting show of pinnipeds.

In addition, on the “Sunny Island” there is an indoor ice skating rink “Aisberg” and a favorite place of Krasnodar teenagers – a rope park. Those who want to have a snack or lunch, can do it in any of the cafes, bars and restaurants operating on the territory. “Sunny Island” is open to visitors every day from 10.00 to 22.00. Walking around it is free of charge. The safari park, children’s rides, skating rink and rope park have paid entrances.
