Strelka in Yaroslavl

Strelka in Yaroslavl is a triangular stepped promontory formed by river sediments at the confluence of the Kotorosl River into the full-flowing Volga. There is a picturesque landscape park surrounded by architectural sights of the ancient Russian city. The park on Strelka is located in the very center of Yaroslavl. From here you can enjoy views of beautiful embankments, the streets of historical districts with golden domes of cathedrals and churches. In 1918, during the civil war that blazed in Russia after the revolution, the church was significantly damaged by artillery of the opposing sides. In 1937 it was demolished, the bell tower and the beautiful three-story building of the Demidov Lyceum, which stood next to it, disappeared. A city park was laid out on the vacated place. By the 1000th anniversary of the city, celebrated in 2010, the cathedral was restored at the expense of patrons of the arts. The temple regained the status of the spiritual center of Yaroslavl.

How to get there

There are three public transportation stops near Strelka Park in Yaroslavl. Take trolleybus No. 9 or buses No. 2, 5, 8, 14, 33, 42 and 76 to “Pervomayskaya”. Shuttle cabs #36, 45, 61, 73, 80, 87, 96, 178 stop here as well.

Trolleybuses #4 and 8, buses #12, 18, 43, 44, as well as shuttle bus #51 go to the stop “Torgovy Lane”.

From the railway station you can take trolleybus No. 1 or bus No. 20 to the stop “Red Square” and walk to the park at Strelka along the embankment.
