Solomon Sea

Solomon Sea is an inter-island sea of the Pacific Ocean located between the Solomon Islands, New Britain and New Guinea. It has an area of 755,000 km² and an average depth of 2652 meters. The average annual water temperature at the surface is more than 27 °С, salinity 34,5‰. There are 220 cloudy days a year, two rainy seasons during equinoxes. Two large basins with the greatest depth of 9103 m. Underwater active volcanoes. Numerous coral reefs in the south. The sea area was the scene of numerous battles during World War II.
