Sine Saloum Reserve
Sine Saloum is a protected area in Senegal named after the approximately 250 km long river that runs through it. The national park was founded in the delta of the Saloum River in 1976. Its area is 76 thousand hectares. In 1981 Sin-Saloum was included in the list of biosphere reserves of world importance of UNESCO. The Salum Delta is represented by marvelously beautiful mangrove forests inhabited by the rarest and most endangered animals. There are 72 endemic species, including river dolphins and manatees.
