Shimanami Kaido

Shimanami Kaido (or Nishiseto Expressway) is a 69-kilometer-long scenic overpass in Japan that connects the city of Shikoku to Hiroshima. It is interesting because it is realized through a series of bridges over six islands in the Inland Sea of Japan. Translated into Russian, “Shimanami Kaido” means “the road among the islands.”

Parallel to the automobile road is a bicycle and pedestrian path, which is very popular with tourists who prefer active vacations. For pedestrians the passage is free of charge. For cyclists for money, but not much. For cars – very expensive. The Kurushima Bridge is considered the most expensive per kilometer (232.88 yen) in Japan.
