Pearl Mosque in Lahore (Moti Masjid)

The Pearl Mosque is a beautiful religious structure made of white marble and Aleppo glass. It is located in the Pakistani city of Lahore inside the Lahore Fort, in close proximity to the Alamgiri Gate, the main entrance to the citadel. The mosque was built in 1630-35 during the reign of Shah Jahan.

.

After the collapse of the Mughal Empire, the Pearl Mosque was converted into a gurdwara and renamed Moti Mandir during the Sikh Confederation period. Later, Ranjit Singh started using the building as the state treasury. After the British invaded Punjab in 1849, they discovered gems inside the mosque lying in rags and velvet purses. The religious relics were later moved to the Badshahi Mosque.
