Okavango Delta
The Okavango River, originating in the highlands of Angola, flows towards the sandy expanse of the Kalahari, where it forms a huge delta. The lagoon, with its maze-like channels, palm-fringed islands and fertile flood meadows, is home to more than 450 species of birds and 1,000 species of plants. The Moremi Game Reserve and the Chobe National Park attract animal and bird watchers, hunters and sport fishermen, and just about anyone who enjoys exploring the hidden wonders of nature in this beautiful and unspoiled area.
General Information
The Delta covers an area of 15,000 square kilometers and the water here is clear and delightfully clean. One of the best ways to observe nature is in a mokoro, a traditional hollowed-out canoe that will be steered by one of the local guides, helping you admire nature. Crocodiles, hippos, elephants, buffalo and several rare species of antelope are found here, making Okavango one of the world’s best game reserves.
