Okanagan Lake

Okanagan is a lake in Canada in the valley of the same name near the border with the United States.

.

General information

Translated, the lake’s name refers to a place of water. Okanagan is a remnant of an ancient glacial lake that retreated 10,000 years ago. As the lake retreated, it left behind some of its most fertile terraces.

.

Canada’s warmest region, the Okanagan Valley is a feast for the eyes. It is quite dry here, these places could even be called a desert, but closer to the north cherries, peaches, pears, apricots, plums, apples and grapes are grown. In the spring, the fruit trees are covered in flowers, so spring is a particularly pleasant time to visit.

.

Fall is also beautiful, at which time the grapes ripen. Viticulture is a serious business in the Okanagan Valley. The people of British Columbia are justifiably proud of their wines, Kelowna in the Okanagan Valley is a center of wine production. You could say it’s a truly French place. Be sure to tour the vineyards and taste the local wines.

.

In the summer, you can relax on the endless sandy beaches, swim, fish and dive in the picturesque lake. You can also head to one of the many top-notch golf courses or explore one of the parks.
