Novomikhailovsky settlement

Novomikhailovsky is a popular resort village on the Black Sea coast, located between Tuapse and Dzhubga. Among vacationers and locals, it is often referred to as Novomikhailovka. The central part of the resort lies on the shore of Mikhailovskaya Bay, and the main development is located on the banks of the Nechepsukho and Psebe rivers flowing into the sea. The resort area stretches from Shirokaya Slit to Cape Gryaznova and includes the villages of Novomikhailovsky, Olginka, Pliaho and Psebe. Here is located well-known throughout Russia children’s health camp “Orlyonok.”

‘ History of Novomihajlovskijreterte

In times of antiquity and the early Middle Ages on the site of the resort village stood the city of Nikopsia, which was the center of the Orthodox diocese and was subordinate to Constantinople. Here one of the twelve closest companions of Jesus Christ – Apostle Simon the Canonite (55 AD) was martyred and buried. Nicopsia was a major pilgrimage center, where Christians from Circassia and Abkhazia came. At the mouth of the Nechepsukho River there are ruins of a fortress and an early medieval temple.

Near the central beach of Novomikhaylovskoye ride on jet skis, catamarans, on “bananas”, “pills” and parachute behind the boat. The coastal strip is framed by a neat promenade, where in the summer season work cafes, restaurants, souvenir stores and shops selling resort goods.

In the Olginke microdistrict “Horizon” is a popular water and recreation complex “Orbita”, to which from Novomikhailovskoye is not difficult to come by shuttle bus. It has a large outdoor pool, a children’s pool with a fountain, several water slides and a playground. Orbita’s indoor area is open all year round, while the outdoor pools are only available in the summer.

In Novomikhailovskoye there are nightclubs and discos. In summer, cafes and restaurants offering Russian and Caucasian cuisine are open for tourists.

Fans of motorcycling can visit a modern motocross track, which is located to the west of the village of Pliaho. Here you can ride quad bikes and watch competitions of motorcycle racers. The motocross track is open all year round from 10.00 to 21.00 in summer, and in winter – until 18.00.

In the western part of Novomikhailovskoye on the territory of 300 hectares there is a camp “Orlyonok”. This is a large recreational and educational institution, where every year rests about 20 thousand schoolchildren from 11 to 16 years old. The large children’s health resort has a long tradition, and guests of the resort village, if desired, can visit here on a paid excursion. During it, tourists are told about the history of the camp, show the buildings, beaches, exhibition hall and two museums located in “Orlenka”, dedicated to astronautics and firefighting. Tours of the camp are held every day from 10.00 to 18.00.

Tourist firms take vacationers from Novomikhailovskoye on interesting excursions to Tuapse – to the rock Kiseleva and Cape Kadosh, in the valley of the river Shakhe, to the picturesque waterfalls Ashe and Abkhazia.

Accommodation

In Novomikhailovskoye there are several sanatoriums, resorts and children’s camps. Hotels and recreation centers are mostly built along the coastal strip. This is the most expensive accommodation of the resort village. Cheaper accommodation options can be found in the valley of the Nechepsukho River. Comfortable rest there offer in guest houses, private apartments and cottages turnkey.

Transportation

In the resort village move on foot. Through Novomikhailovsky passes highway M27. At the village bus station stop buses connecting Tuapse with Dzhubga, Krasnodar, Kurganinsky, Psebe, Port “Kavkazom”, Temryuk, Tenginka and Taganrog. In addition, buses pass through Novomikhailovsky daily, which take passengers to Sochi from Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Stavropol, Krasnodar, Novorossiysk, Anapa and other cities.

How to get there

The nearest airports to Novomikhailovsky are located in Gelendzhik (99 km) and Krasnodar (136 km). Gelendzhik airport only receives flights from Moscow. You can fly to Krasnodar from the capital, St. Petersburg and many other Russian cities. Gelendzhik and Krasnodar are connected to Novomikhailovskoye by regular bus service. The road from Gelendzhik takes 2.15-2.20 h, and from Krasnodar – 2.50-3.00 h.

If you come to the Black Sea coast of the Caucasus by train, tickets should be taken to Tuapse (38 km). Not far from the railway station is a bus station, from where you can leave to Novomikhailovsky by shuttle buses.

By car in the resort village get to the federal highway M27 “Dzhubga – Sochi”. The distance to Novomikhailovsky from Dzhubga is 18 km.
