Nissi Beach

Nissi Beach is number one in the chain of beaches of Ayia Napa. Light sand, turquoise water, lots of people and thundering music. This is the first impression of Nissi Beach. Especially a lot of vacationers in the “peak hours” – from 12-00 to 16-00 hours of the day. However, if you step aside, you can find a quieter place, and the water and sand will be the same. The beach is named after a very remarkable island connected to the shore by a narrow sandy isthmus. ΝΗΣΙ (read “nisi”) means island in Greek. Depending on the tides, the isthmus may sink or emerge. Water sports are firmly established on the islet. And for extreme athletes there is a completely free opportunity to dive into the water from the cliff.

General Information

Nissi Beach is 300 meters long and 40 meters wide. The entrance to the water is gentle, and the sea is always quiet and calm due to good protection from the wind. It would seem to be an ideal option for a vacation with children, but family tourists are still better off going elsewhere, for example, to Makronisos beach.

.

The range of services is impressive: rental beds, umbrellas, sports equipment, showers and changing rooms, cafes and bars in the neighborhood, as well as working all season from 10 am to 6 pm lifeguards. Which including sensitively monitor that some fun-loving people do not sit in shallow water from 10-meter cliffs (they manage to do it not always, but there have been no special victims).

.

There is, of course, the beach and the disadvantage: because of the calm shallow water, heat and a large number of vacationers from July to August the sea begins to bloom. The algae is constantly removed, but it is worth bearing this in mind.

.

In everything else for young people Nissi Beach is an ideal place. Here you can dance, play beach soccer and volleyball, get acquainted, participate in contests, soaked in foam on the “diskacha” and just incendiary rest. If you get hungry, you should stop by the Olive Tree restaurant, which is just a couple of minutes’ walk from the beach. The menu includes local dishes, fresh seafood and interesting desserts. For dinner it is better to book a table in advance. Another decent option for lunch nearby is Blue Tulip restaurant. Its main “feature” – a terrace with a fantastic view of the sea, especially good which at sunset.

.

From the disadvantages of the beach can be noted the proliferation of algae in the summer period from July to August. The algae is constantly removed by a special net.

If you are young and active, looking for entertainment, or even adventure, then:

.
  • DJs entertaining the public,
  • foam parties starting in the morning,
  • .
  • various contests,
  • .
  • beach volleyball, soccer

and other beach games will be a definite plus for you.

.

But if you come to Nissi Beach with a small child or just want peace and quiet, this place is not for you. Move to the eastern part of the beach, or better yet, determine the place of rest at home, choose a quieter place, for example, Makronisos.

.

The hotels closest to the beach will not be difficult to find: as a rule, they all have the word “Nissi” in their name. These are, for example, Nissi Beach Resort 4* or Nissi Park Hotel 3*.
