Highlights

The Necropolis of the Demidovs museum complex consists of an ancestral tomb in the Nikolo-Zaretskaya Church, a bell tower, a memorial square, a hall dedicated to Tula metal, and an introductory hall. The museum was established in 1996, the year of the 340th anniversary of Nikita Demidov, the founder of the dynasty of Russian metal manufacturers.

.

Most visitors visit the crypt chapel, where representatives of the Demidov dynasty are buried. It is noteworthy that this is the only ancestral intra-church necropolis that has survived to this day in Russia. Nikolo-Zaretskaya Church was built in the 30s of the XVIII century on the money of Akinfiy Demidov in the traditions of the Petrine Baroque, and the ancestral chapel-skeleton of the Demidovs appeared here in 1734. The church was restored in the 2000s, and today its doors are open to believers and tourists.

.

In the museum part of the necropolis of the Demidovs you can see the items found during the archaeological research of the tomb. Here are also exhibited samples of products of Tula armorers XVI-XVII centuries and copper utensils made by artisans from the Urals in the XVIII century. The collection of tiny castles of the XVIII and XIX centuries is of great interest. In addition, the museum exhibits portraits of famous representatives of the famous dynasty and their descendants.
