Mount Kilimanjaro
Mount Kilimanjaro is located in northeastern Tanzania, in the national park of the same name. It is the highest peak in Africa, which is actually a dormant volcano. There are three cones, Kibo, Mawensi and Shira, Kibo is the highest and youngest peak, Mawensi is the oldest cone, its height is 5891.8 meters. Although Mount Kilimanjaro is only three degrees away from the equator, because of the altitude, the Kibo crater is covered in snow all year round. The name comes from the Swahili language and supposedly means “the mountain that sparkles.”
