Mikhailovskoye Estate
Mikhailovskoye Estate is a noble estate located in the Pskov region, on the steep shore of Lake Kuchane, at the source of the Soroti River. The history of the estate dates back to 1742, when Empress Elizaveta Petrovna granted the estate to Abram Hannibal, the great-grandfather of Alexander Pushkin. The main attractions of Mikhailovsky are the poet’s house with a museum exposition presenting the supposed interiors of his time; the house of Arina Rodionovna – Pushkin’s nanny. From the north-west of the estate one can see Lake Malenets, a wooded hill, the ancient settlement Savkina Gorka, villages on the opposite shore of Lake Kuchane and the Petrovskoye estate. From the southeast it is surrounded by a park and a fruit orchard. Since 1922 the Mikhailovskoye estate has been part of the Pushkin Museum-Reserve.
