Marilyn Monroe Monument (Marilyn forever)

The Marilyn Monroe Monument was erected in 2011 in Chicago. The unveiling ceremony of the 8-meter statue took place on the main street of the capital of Illinois – Michigan Avenue. The monument bears the name “Marilyn forever” (Marilyn forever). The weight of the monument was more than 15 tons. Sculptor Stuart Johnson captured in the statue a famous piquant shot from the 1955 movie “Seven Years of Desire”, when the flow of air from the ventilation grate was lifted skirt of the movie star. The monument to Marilyn Monroe caused quite a stir, because now anyone could almost literally look under the skirt of the legendary blonde. However, not everyone considered this creation a decoration of the city. Many citizens felt that the statue is too huge and tasteless, and to their joy in the spring of 2012, it was dismantled.
