Madison Avenue
Madison Avenue is a famous street in New York City, the name of which has become a nickname for the American advertising industry. Madison Avenue is located in Manhattan, running north from 23rd Street toward the Bronx, to which it is connected by a bridge of the same name. The traffic here is one-way. On the section between 23rd and 26th streets is the eastern border of Madison Square, named, like the street, in honor of the fourth president of the United States James Madison. Unlike other streets, such as Fifth Avenue, Madison Avenue has no ordinal number, as it was laid out in 1836 and was not part of the regular 1811 Manhattan plan. This street is where advertising agencies traditionally rent offices and is home to dozens of boutiques. In addition to the stores, the Life Insurance Building skyscraper and Madison Square Garden sports arena are worth exploring on Madison Avenue.
