Kenozersky National Park
Kenozersky National Park is a corner of the Arkhangelsk region, which has preserved the original Russian culture and traditions. The territory of the park is a natural and historical-cultural complex, located at the junction of Plesetsk and Kargopolsky districts, its western part runs along the border with the Republic of Karelia. The area of the reserve is 1210 km². Kenozersky Park was established in 1990 to preserve cultural and historical monuments and to protect the unique North Russian nature. There are 263 species of birds, 50 species of mammals, 5 species of amphibians and 4 species of reptiles. There are 2 species of lampreys and 27 species of fish in the park’s reservoirs. The park’s flora counts 534 species, and orchids, most of which are included in the Red Book, deserve special attention. Since 2014, Kenozersky Park has been a candidate for inclusion in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
