Kaaba

Kaaba is the main shrine of Islam, created in the form of a cubic building and located in the courtyard of the world’s largest mosque, Masjid al-Haram. According to the injunctions of the Quran, this structure is the main center of pilgrimage for Muslims. In Arabic there is another name of this building, in translation it means “sacred house”. It is to the Kaaba that Muslims turn during daily prayers, this building serves as a reference point for them. Interestingly, if a believer is inside the Kaaba, he can pray in any direction he likes.

The large number of pilgrims made it impossible to visit the temple freely due to its small size. Only special guests are allowed inside – for them the doors of the Kaaba are open twice a year. They can see the shrine from inside during two ablution ceremonies, which take place before the holy month of Ramadan and before the Hajj.
