Jur-Dzhur Waterfall Baths

Although the Jur-Jur waterfall itself is of great interest, many tourists go to it for the baths. These water reservoirs, with temperatures of around 10℃ in the summer months, are a refreshing way to refresh yourself after a long drive. The baths are natural obstacles in the path of the waterfall, so the water doesn’t linger in them, and that’s why they are so cool.

.

Locals have invented a legend for each bathtub, saying that if you bathe in its waters, something good will happen.

.
  • The Bath of Love is popular with both couples and single tourists. To the former it promises a strong and long relationship, and to the latter it promises to find a soul mate.
  • Bath of Health, as it is easy to guess, promises to get rid of diseases and gain good health. The main thing – do not get cold after bathing!
  • Bath of Joy guarantees that a few seconds after diving you will experience intense joy. Well, quite a plausible legend – after a long climb up the mountain bathing in a cool spring will give anyone joy!
  • .
  • The Bath of Happiness promises big happy events – though no one will say when they will come.
  • The Bath of Youth, according to legends, rejuvenates the soul and the body. A person who takes a dip in it immediately feels younger and more energetic.

Please note: although it is possible to bathe in the baths, it is extremely dangerous to go under the waterfall itself. Along with the water sometimes fall rocks of different sizes, and 270 liters of water coming down every second, can be a threat even to a strong man.

What to see in the neighborhood

There are several other natural attractions near the Jur-Jur waterfall. The waterfall itself is located in the Khaphal Gorge, which was created by the movement of the Ulu-Uzen River. The gorge is mottled with many caves, one of which is also called Dzhur-Dzhur. Its length is 750 meters, so it is unlikely to pass it entirely. But you can just look in and admire the inner gallery. It is not difficult to find the cave – walk from the waterfall 200 meters against the flow of the river on the right bank, and between the ledges in the river valley you will see the entrance. Inside the cave you can find stalagmites and stalactites – they are located in the right part. There is also an internal stream in the cave.

.

The river Ulu-Uzen overcomes several ledges, on each of which a small waterfall is formed. You will be able to admire the cascade, if you go up about a kilometer from Dzhur-Dzhur against the flow of the river – from this point opens a surprisingly picturesque view of the river.

Excursions to Dzhur-Dzhur waterfall

Tourist agencies rarely take excursions exclusively to the waterfall – usually the program includes other objects of the Khapkhal reserve. Most often excursions that include a walk to Dzhur-Dzhur, depart from Alushta.

.

If you want to admire only the waterfall, then look for locals in the village of Generalskoye – they will take you to the sight and tell you about it.

.

How to get there

The closest city to the Jur-Jur waterfall is Alushta, so we will consider the route from this point of departure.

.

The waterfall is located 2 km from the village of Generalskoye. You can get to it either by public transportation from Alushta (go to Sovetskaya Square and take a bus to Generalskoye, it takes 30-40 minutes), or by car or cab. Please note that applications like “Yandex Taxi” and “Uber”, which are familiar to many Russians, do not work. Instead, you can use local Crimean services, such as “Shark”, “Metro”, “Vezet.”

.

In General’s Village, travelers have a choice to make. There are three ways to get to the entrance of the preserve.

  • You can walk two kilometers to the Dzhur-Dzhur waterfall on foot. Keep in mind that you have to go uphill, but on the way will be a lot of cafes and sites for recreation. The necessary path will first indicate the locals, and then you can focus on the signs – it is difficult to get lost there.
  • .
  • If you have a personal off-road vehicle, you can overcome part of the way to the waterfall in your car. The road from the village to the Khapkhal reserve is very bad, and the average crossover will be able to overcome about half of the way. The other half will have to walk.
  • The optimal option – for 1000-2000 rubles to hire one of the locals with a “UAZik”, which will take you to the entrance to the reserve and back. The locals are adept at handling the difficult road and will be able to take you as close to Dzhur-Dzhur as possible.
  • Upon entering the reserve, follow the signs. You will come out on a wooden bridge, which you can cross to the viewing platform and admire the waterfall!
