Jumeirah Mosque

The Jumeirah Mosque in Dubai is one of the few mosques in the UAE that is accessible to non-Muslim tourists. Under the initiative of the Sheikh Mohammed Center for Cultural Understanding, anyone can enter the mosque twice a week under the supervision of guides in order to get acquainted with the traditions of Arab families. Tourists are explained the meaning of prayers and the basics of communicating with Allah.

.

Architecture

The Jumeirah Mosque was built in the medieval Fatimid style. Construction began in 1979, using pink sandstone as the building material. In its style it repeats the mosques of Cairo, which were built in the XIII-XV centuries. In its architecture there are elements inherent in the period of the Fatimid caliphs, as well as elements that refer to the period of power of the Mamluk sultans.

The Jumeirah Mosque is decorated with two minarets and an imposing majestic dome. At night, the mosque is illuminated with additional illumination, which is a beautiful sight. Dubai is famous for its mosque, which is listed as one of the city’s must-see attractions.
