General Information

Mount Jebel Hafit was formed from limestone more than five thousand years ago. This is evidenced by excavations at the foot of this mountain, as a result of which were found ancient tombs, the remains of women’s jewelry, kitchen utensils made of clay, tools. All these findings indicate that people inhabited this area since prehistoric times. And during the construction of the asphalt road to the top still found fish skeletons, remains of crabs, mollusks, corals, which led archaeologists to the idea that more than 700 million years ago in this area was the sea.

.

At the base of the mountain spreads a small oasis Mubazzarah, in which the water from the springs in small streams collected in a lake, there are indoor pools where tourists can relax in the thermal waters. There are also water slides, jacuzzis for all tastes and mini golf courses.

.

A smooth asphalt road leads to the top of Mount Jebel Hafit and is usually traveled by car or bicycle. In fact, this track is a favorite place for professional cyclists, and every year at the beginning of the year there is a cycling race here. The route ends with the parking lot of the fashionable hotel MERCURE GRAND Jebel Hafeet Al Ain 4*, which has a gorgeous observation deck with natural views, which is rare for the Emirates, where artificial observation decks are usually built. Sitting in the cafe of the hotel on the top of the mountain, you can contemplate the city spread at the foot and thermal springs, enjoying the mountain air and listening to the sound of the wind. Just below the observation deck is built a palace, where the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, who is the President of the United Arab Emirates, lives. By the way, the post was inherited by him, because this country is an absolute monarchy.

.

You can also go to the mountains on horseback, here are bred thoroughbred Arabian horses, on which you will learn to ride high-class specialists. Professionals here periodically hold competitions.

.

Mount Jebel Hafit is listed by UNESCO as a natural site that can be considered one of the wonders of the world.

.

The slopes of the mountain range are home to many rare birds, insects, reptiles, and animals. Some insect species may even be unknown to science.

.

To attract more tourists, soon on the slopes of Jebel Hafit they plan to build an artificial ski slope, which will be several times longer than the existing one at Ski Dubai resort. There are also plans to build new hotels, shopping and entertainment centers and golf courses.
