Izmailovsky Park

Izmailovsky Park is a good place for walks in the east of the capital: it is not noisy, fresh air, and if it is summer, you can take a blanket and sit very comfortably on the bank of one of the reservoirs.

General information

There is a pond with an island and the Walk of Fame, as well as two children’s amusement parks, the distant one is cheaper. It’s also where rollerbladers gather, and you can watch the tricks they pull. At the entrance to the children’s town they sell chocolate-covered nuts and balloons, and draw pictures on children’s faces. On the pond you can inexpensively take a boat or catamaran. On the territory of a lot of kebab shops and various cafes. In winter they pour a skating rink. The park supports sports lovers, there are many opportunities for active leisure activities.

The Kremlin in Izmailovo is a cultural and entertainment complex built in 1998-2007 with the imitation of some forms of Russian architecture of the early 17th century.

Its “two-tier” territory consists of “Vernisazh” – shopping rows, where among other goods prevail souvenirs, antiques and handicrafts, and the Izmailovo Kremlin itself. Walking along the wooden platforms and covered passages, you will find yourself in a kind of fairy-tale town.

Various events and costume shows are held here, so people dressed in the fashion of the XVII century are not uncommon.

Izmailovsky Kremlin is not an architectural monument, all the buildings here are modern, recreated according to the drawings of pre-Petrine times, there is no atmosphere of antiquity, which envelops some buildings in Moscow, but there is always a spirit of fun and festivity.

In the distant past, the park was the estate of Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich, from which today only a circular horseshoe-shaped pond with a man-made island in the center remains. A protected area with the largest menagerie in Europe was located here in the XVII century. By the decision of the Mossovet in 1931, a recreation area for Muscovites was created on the territory of the forest area under the name of Stalin Park. Since 1961 the park has been called “Izmailovsky”.
