Ilmensky State Mineralogical Reserve

Ilmensky Reserve is located in the central part of the Chelyabinsk region near the city of Miass. The Lenin State Reserve is structurally part of the South Ural Scientific Center of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The area of the national park is 303.8 km² and is 85% covered with birch and pine forest. The main pride of these places is the strip of Ilmensky mountains, the ridge of Kosoy Mountain, surrounded by lakes Argayash, Maly Kisegach, Bolshoy Miassovo, Bolshoy Tatkul. The number of species of minerals found in the Ilmensky Reserve exceeds 260, of which more than 10 were found for the first time in the world.
