General Information

The Hili Gardens preserve in its ruins the greatest ancient history of the earliest stages of the world’s art and culture. The archaeological garden is a UNESCO World Heritage Site as it combines historical value, elegance and splendor of plant life.

There are three tomb towers in the park’s extensive grounds, two of which you can visit, while the third is still being excavated by Arab and French archaeologists.

.

In addition to the towers, in the gardens of Hili there are stone and brick houses, which, like the tombs, are up to three thousand years old. The most important discovery in the excavations was the abundant evidence of an advanced culture of the time. Even about 4500 years ago on Umm an Arra they knew how to extract such material as copper, make dishes from clay and metal, grow crops and palm trees, hunt large marine animals, and the ancient Arabs had a special developed culture of burials, actually, which is represented in the gardens of Hili.

.

After walking around the ancient burial grounds and other sites of the Hili Gardens, you can have a nice rest on the lawn anywhere in the green park where you can see the beauty made up of marvelous palm trees and amazing fountains. The park provides all the necessary conditions for a good rest and favorable spending time with family or alone. There are special playgrounds where you can go rollerblading on the paths. In addition, there are many places where you can have a snack or a picnic.

.

Healy Archaeological Gardens are open daily from 16.30 to 21.30. Sometimes, in addition to the park’s main opening hours, you can also come in the morning. But, it is worth considering that on public holidays the gardens are locked to visitors. If you need a guide, you should look for a guide in the city in advance, or contact the hotel reception. The cost of a ticket is 1 dirham.
