Grand Maket Russia is a national museum located in the historical center of St. Petersburg, and a real miracle created by the best Russian masters: designers, modelers, artists and engineers. The layout is the largest model of our country among all existing in the world and depicts village and urban scenes, miniature buildings, animals, people, activities, natural landscapes, trains and cars.

History of the museum
In 2022, the museum celebrated its first anniversary. The official date of opening of the museum complex “Grand Layout Russia” was June 8, 2012. But despite the youth of the exhibition compared to famous Russian museums, the building housing the layout has a longer history.
Post-war period
The starting point of the building’s history is the emergence of the asbestos technical products factory a few years after the end of the Great Patriotic War. For some time warehouses were erected, and in 1953 a beige and yellow building in the style of Stalin’s Empire appeared. Today, the building’s exterior appearance is virtually unchanged.

New Times
Before the collapse of the USSR, a factory functioned within the walls of the building, but in 1998 it was bought out, making it an office center. Further events developed as follows:
2008 – the beginning of the conversion of the office into a museum site. The order to do so was given by the philanthropist and part-time owner of the building S. B. Morozov. Installation of the wooden base of the future layout;

2008-2011. – creation of the layout: installation of the supporting frame, the bases of railroads and highways, wooden ribs, application of a layer of plaster, creation of the final outlines of the landscape. The work lasted a total of five years. Reception of the first visitors. Operation in test mode (exclusively on weekends);
2012. – Official opening of the exhibition;
2013. – Receipt of several prestigious awards. The complex itself was honored with a prize called “Golden Mercury” for its successful launch. Morozov took first place in the Science/Social category among fifty other exhibitors;

2014. – Receiving new awards and titles. “Grand Maket Russia” was awarded honorable places in the ratings: “Top 10 best museums of the Russian Federation” and “Ten most photographed places”. Also its owner was awarded the status of chief of the year;
2015. – On March 5, the exhibition celebrated a kind of anniversary: the thousandth day of continuous work came. Also this year, the museum complex won a worthy victory in two competitions: “Natural Link-2015” and “Divo Russia”;

2016. – creation of a fragment symbolizing the RF for the layout of the whole world. The process lasted 7 months;
2018. – Receiving 1st place in the competition “For the quality of goods, works, services”. Creating the layout of the Obukhov plant.

How to get there
The address of the Grand Layout Russia museum is 16L Flower Street. The nearest point on the map is the Moskovskie Vorota metro station. You can get from the metro to the exhibition in three ways:
on foot. It is necessary to face the monument on Moskovsky Avenue, cross the road and follow to Zastavskaya Street. Turning on it, you need to walk to Flower Street, and then turn right.
