Goa
Goa, located in northwest India, is the country’s premier resort. Its short, easy-to-remember name is on the lips of beach lovers and travelers today. Many people think that Goa is a city, others believe that it is a peninsula or even an island. All these assumptions are wrong. In fact, Goa is the smallest Indian state in terms of territory. It is also an outsider in terms of population: about 1,500,000 people, 26th among other states. The largest city in the region is Vasco da Gama, named after the famous Portuguese navigator who discovered the way to India bypassing Africa. The state capital is the city of Panaji (or Panjim).
