Flores Sea
The Flores Sea is an inter-island sea of the Pacific Ocean, between the southern tip of Sulawesi Island in the north, the islands of Kabia Sumbawa (island) and Flores in the south.

The Flores Sea has an area of 115,000 km². The average depth is 1522 meters, maximum 5234 meters. Surface water temperature from 26 °C (August, September) to 28.8 °C (November). Salinity 32.0-34.6 ‰, in the rainy season 32-33 ‰, bottom water temperature 3.5 °С. Surface currents have a southern or western direction. Bottom sediments are predominantly volcanic and globigerine muds. Tides are irregular semidiurnal, their magnitude is up to 2.3 m. In the west of the sea there is a submarine plateau with coral reefs, deep-water central depression Flores. Seismically active area. On Sangeang Island (near the northeastern coast of Sumbawa Island) is the Api Slau volcano, one of the most active active volcanoes in Indonesia, 1949 m high.
