Flic en Flac
Flic en Flac is one of the most popular resorts on the island of Mauritius with many kilometers of white sandy beach. The name Flick en Flaak comes from the ancient Dutch phrase “Fried Landt Flaak”, which literally means “Free Land”, and the village itself is rich in a variety of Creole culture.
Highlights
The wide and long beaches of Flick en Flac with fine white sand are great for sunbathing, swimming, vacationing with children, snorkeling, diving and other water activities. It should be taken into account that the current is medium. The beaches of Flick en Flac are well equipped and there are cafes and stores nearby. During the most intense hours of sunlight you can take shelter in the shade of the casuarina grove.
.On weekends during the season, the beaches of Flick en Flac can be quite crowded, because people from Port Louis and other nearby towns like to come here. Some tourists staying in Flick en Flac, quite often visit the neighboring beach – Sugar Beach. Here there is a strong current, but not so many people. There are no stores nearby, but there are places to eat.
.Hotels
There are few hotels in Flick aan Flac itself – most of the hotels are located in the suburb of Volmar. Local hotels are quite modest (by Mauritian standards), the level of good four stars. “Hiltons, Sofitels and other famous five-star hotels are located closer to Tamarin Bay.
.Cuisine and restaurants
On the beach at Flick en Flaca, you can catch your worm at eateries offering sandwiches, fruit, drinks, and other simple fare. You can have a substantial meal in hotel restaurants – there are practically no high-level establishments outside hotels. Finally, for the very “haute cuisine” we recommend going to Volmar.
.Diving
Several diving centers (among them the popular “Tikabo” and “Apnealozhi”) offer PADI and SMAC training, as well as directly organizing dives for experienced divers. You can view the underwater beauty directly offshore or take a boat out to the open sea. There is much to see here: the interweaving of rocks and caves, straits, shipwrecks, live and dead coral reefs, exotic fish and much more – a total of more than forty fascinating places.

From Port Louis to Flick en Flac, you can take a cab or bus number 123 from Brabant Street. The fare costs 17 rupees and the bus runs every 18 minutes.
