Faafu Atoll
Faafu Atoll is located southwest of Male, the capital of the Maldives. The atoll covers an area of 30 kilometers long and 27 kilometers wide. It comprises 23 islands, of which only 5 are inhabited.
.The interior of Faafu Atoll, filled with colorful coral reefs, is a great place for diving and surfing. Like most of the southern atolls, Faafu was only opened to tourists in late 1999, so nature is still untouched and the sand on the beaches is really white. The only hotel on the atoll bears the name of the island on which it is built – Filitheyo Island Resort.
.On the atoll are very popular marine entertainment such as: windsurfing, snorkeling, water skiing, canoeing and catamaran rides and, of course, diving. A lot of pleasant minutes will bring and riding on scooters or bananas!
ContentsFiliteo Island
Currently, only one island of the Faafu Atoll ridge is landscaped to receive tourists. This is Filiteo Island. To get to the island, you can take a seaplane from the international airport in Male, the flight will take you only thirty minutes, and from the landing place to the hotel you will be taken by boat in ten minutes.

On Filiteo Island you will be greeted by a modern resort. It is erected in a picturesque location on the eastern side of the atoll. The location was not chosen by chance. Rich vegetation, tall palms and mango bushes tightly approach the spacious beaches covered with snow-white sand. Cozy villas harmoniously fit into this landscape. Quiet paths lead from them to the sea. If you do not want to leave the ocean for a minute, you can settle in houses right on the water. From them to the shore lead to the crossing bridges. It’s paradise.
.The island is tiny, just under a kilometer by two hundred and twenty meters. Nevertheless, here is organized first-class recreation, modern rooms, fine cuisine and peaceful atmosphere.

Nilandu Island
This small island within the Faafu Atoll is famous for the second oldest mosque in the Maldives. Aasaari Mosque (Aasaari Miskiiy) was built during the reign of Sultan Mohammed ibn Abdullah in the 12th century. The structure is made of stone and decorated inside with intricate wood carvings. However, the mosque is not the oldest building on the island of Nilandu. Famous traveler and explorer Thor Heyerdahl discovered the remains of a vanished civilization here. The ruins of mysterious pagan and Hindu shrines on Nilandu still remain largely unexplored.

Diving
The resort is famous for its rich coral reefs, attracting divers from all over the world. In the islands of the atoll you can find many places for an unforgettable dive. At your request there will be organized excursion to uninhabited islands, fishing. By the way, from the catch skillful cook can cook you local dishes.
.The atoll has two good diving spots. The first, Filitheyo Reef (Filitheyo Reef), is a marine reserve. Going into the depths of the wide steps coral reef densely populated with various fish and other sea creatures. The second dive site, Faafu, is named Two Brothers because of its appearance. Two coral columns sticking out in the middle of a narrow strait are a favorite habitat for sea turtles and underwater inhabitants of more modest size.
