Divnomorskoye is a Black Sea village, part of the resort town of Gelendzhik. Divnomorskoye is located near the mouth of the Mezyb River, 9.5 kilometers southeast of the spacious Gelendzhik Bay. The permanent population of the village is about 6300 people – Russians, Ukrainians, Armenians and Greeks. Locals and tourists often call the resort Divnomorsk. It has no industrial productions, and the economy is based on tourism, grape growing and horticulture.

Highlights
In the summertime, the population of Divnomorsky increases several times due to visitors. Resorts love these places for the warm sea, good pebble beaches, favorable ecology and developed tourist infrastructure. In addition, the prices for accommodation and food here are lower than in Gelendzhik itself and even more so in the coastal zone of Greater Sochi.

Divnomorskoe has a mild Mediterranean climate. The Caucasian foothills protect it from the cold nord-osts, and growing along the coast pizund pines saturate the air with healing phytoncides. Several sanatoriums and boarding houses of the village all year round take vacationers. They specialize in the treatment of circulatory system, digestive and respiratory organs, nervous disorders, diseases of the genitourinary system and musculoskeletal apparatus, as well as metabolic disorders.

In Divnomorskoe like to stay families with children. They are attracted by the opportunity to spend a vacation in budget guest houses and camping. In addition, in the resort village there is a lot of entertainment for children, and from here it is easy to get to entertainment centers, zoos and attractions of Gelendzhik.

Rest in Divnomorskoye has long been popular with young people and students. The reasons for this in the low price and abundance of types of active recreation. In the village opened a lot of private hotels and campgrounds. During the high tourist season in Divnomorskoye work good cafes, bars and nightclubs. From the village you can take boat trips, hiking and biking trips, as well as trips on quad bikes and off-road vehicles to the mountains. History of Divnomorskoye village
In the XIX century at the mouth of the river Mezyb, which flows into the Black Sea, stood the Adyghe village of the same name. In translation from Adygean “Mezyb” means “multi-forest”. Since 1830-1840 the settlement was given another name – False Gelendzhik. It happened because ship captains in bad weather took the lights of Mezyb for the inhabited Gelendzhik bay.

During one of the wars that Russia fought with Turkey, Russian sailors took advantage of this feature. The enemy’s squadron was advancing along the Black Sea coast north to Gelendzhik, where the main Russian fleet was based. Wishing to deceive the enemy, in Mezibi set up lights and staging ships that made it look like the bay of Gelendzhik. The Turks succumbed to the ruse and shelled the shore from the sea. Meanwhile, Russian ships came out of Gelendzhik and caught the Turkish fleet with already unloaded guns. They shelled the Turks and won a victory. “Fake Gelendzhik” the settlement was called for more than a hundred years until 1964, when it was renamed Divnomorskoye.
.As a resort village began to develop in parallel with Gelendzhik – since the late XIX century. In 1901 here was built the first on the coast sanatorium “Sine Sea”. Divnomorskoye gained fame as an excellent place of rest, and at the beginning of the last century, prices for land near the mouth of the Mezybi increased greatly.

After the revolution, private villas and dachas were expropriated and given to health resorts, and extensive vine plantations in the vicinity of Mezybi became the property of the fruit and vegetable state farm “Divnomorsky”. After the collapse of the USSR these lands were sold off for dacha plots and hotels.

Beaches of Divnomorsky
North of the boat station is the beach, where fans of more secluded vacations come. The entrance to the water here is less comfortable than on the Central Beach, as there are often stones. However, this inconvenience is compensated by the cleaner sea.
.On the outskirts of Divnomorsky on the side of Gelendzhik is popular with vacationers beach “Fakel”, covered with finely pelletized bulk pebbles. It has a full range of necessary beach services, its own parking lot, medical center and volleyball court. From May to October on this beach works diving club “Ural”, which offers everyone to get acquainted with the beauty of the underwater world of the Black Sea. Experienced instructors teach beginners and children from 8 years old to dive. If desired, diving enthusiasts can visit the introductory underwater excursions and learn the basics of diving on international training programs.

Behind the “Torch” on a wide lagoon spreads nudist beach. Under the steep steep banks is customary to sunbathe and swim without clothes. Nudist beach is wild, so they put tents on it, catch crabs and grill kebabs right on the shore.

South of the mouth of the Mezyb River begins a strip of beaches belonging to Divnomorsky sanatoriums. All of them are pebble-sand and have concrete breakwaters, medical stations and lifeguard stations. Departmental beaches are not wide and, as a rule, are equipped in two tiers. On the lower tier bathers rest, and on the upper tier there are those who want to sunbathe. You can freely enter here, but the places on the upper tiers are reserved exclusively for guests of Divnomorsky resorts. In summertime on the beaches of sanatoriums can be as crowded as on the Central Beach.
South of the sanatorium “Golubaya Dal” stretches a narrow strip of wild beaches. On the stony shore under the steep coastal rocks come those who are not important beach comfort, but like a secluded vacation in nature, away from noisy companies. Wild beaches are also popular with nudists and snorkelers.

Vacations with children
Couples with children have favored the Black Sea resort quite a long time ago. The reason for this is that Divnomorskoye has everything to make children’s vacation by the sea memorable and interesting.
.In the center of the village, at the end of Lenin Street, a small water park “Poseidon” works in the summer. It is easy to find, as the winding colored slides are clearly visible from different parts of the coast. One part of the water park is designed for adults and teenagers, and the other is reserved for the entertainment of kids. There is a shallow pool next to the slides. Instructors are constantly working in the water park, there is a medical center. For guests the territory is open daily from 10.00 to 19.00. Children under 3 years old are allowed here for free.

What to see around Divnomorskoe
The resort village is connected by regular bus service with other settlements, so from here are popular independent and organized tours to natural and historical places of the Black Sea coast of the Caucasus. To see dolmens and waterfalls in the valley of the river Zhane, from Divnomorskoye go to the village of Vozrozhdenie. No less interesting waterfalls and dolmens located a little farther away – in the valley of the river Pshady.
.In the nearest to the resort village farm Dzhankhot come to admire the grove of relic pizundskaya pine, visit the potter’s workshop and the house-museum of writer V. G. Korolenko. In Praskoveyevka is a beautiful rock “Sail”, and not far from the village of Mikhailovsky Pass – cascades of picturesque Plesetskiye waterfalls.
.Travel to Gelendzhik is very popular among tourists. In the resort town is located in Russia’s largest water park “Golden Bay”, safari park, history and local history museum, cable car, dolphinarium, oceanarium and a lot of other entertainment for every taste.

From Divnomorsky many vacationers go on excursions to the war memorials of Novorossiysk, the winery Abrau-Durso, in the cultural and tourist complex “Russia” and the holy springs of the desert of St. Theodosius. Local travel agencies also organize longer trips to the Lotus Valley, to the mud volcanoes of the Taman Peninsula and to Abkhazia.

Restaurants and cafes
There is a developed system of public catering in Divnomorskoye. In summertime on the beaches from morning to evening sell drinks, snacks and ice cream. There are constantly selling kebabs, sweet boiled corn and baklava, and in the coastal cafes-dining rooms offer complex lunches.

For those who come to the coast in their own car and like to rest in tents, three camping sites have been created in Divnomorskoe. Closest to the sea is the territory of auto-camping “Lesnik”. And from “Arion” and “Maikop” to the beaches have to walk for 10-15 minutes.

In the village built more than a hundred small guest houses, offering a different level of service. If desired, you can find options with small pools, cozy green homesteads and playgrounds for children. Some guest houses offer full board, that is, accommodation with three meals a day. Many guest houses are equipped with public kitchens, where tourists can cook their own food.
.How to get there
At 5.5 km from Divnomorskoye runs the federal highway M-4 “Don”, so it is not difficult to get to the village by car. The resort is located 50 km from Novorossiysk and 184 km from Krasnodar.
.The nearest airports are in Gelendzhik (16.8 km) and Anapa (100 km). It should be borne in mind that only planes from Moscow fly to Gelendzhik. From Anapa airport to Divnomorskoye for 2 hours can be reached by marshrutka.
.Those who plan to get to the Black Sea coast of the Caucasus by train should take tickets to Novorossiysk. From the train station to Divnomorskoye can be reached by cab.
.In order to get to the resort village by shuttle bus, first from the Novorossiysk railway station you need to get to the city bus station. It is easy to do this on the buses and trolleybuses running around the city. From Novorossiysk to Divnomorskoye you can take direct buses to Dzhankhot or transfer to Gelendzhik.
