Ciudad Perdida

Ciudad Perdida is an archaeological site in Colombia whose name translates to “Lost City”. It represents the ruins of a Tyrone culture city in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. The first settlement appeared in this area back in 800 BC, that is 650 years earlier than the famous Machu Picchu. In its best days, the city had a population of about 8,000 people. It was the center of social and religious life, but with the arrival of the Spanish it was abandoned. The area is sometimes called Buritaca after the river that flows here.
