Bunker-42 on Taganka

The confrontation between the USSR and the US never turned into an open offensive. But the Cold War was accompanied by an arms race. The world was constantly under the threat of atomic war. It was then that the Tagansky reserve command post was built – a colossal underground structure, a bunker to shelter the Soviet government in the event of a nuclear attack on Moscow. In the event of a chemical or atomic attack, the facility was to be completely switched to autonomous support, becoming cut off from the world. It had its own air regeneration system, and food supplies for months.

When bombs appeared, which are able to first drill underground and then explode, this command center became vulnerable, lost its importance, was declassified and turned into a museum. Excursion programs in the museum include a tour of the tunnels secret in the past, participants are given the opportunity to be in the role of a communicator, show samples of weapons and means of communication of the Armed Forces of the USSR.

In addition to the museum on the territory of the “Bunker-42” are a cafe with karaoke, restaurant, movie theater with DVD and projection equipment. Weddings, corporate parties, team-building and other events are held here.
