Village of Bolshoye Boldino
Bolshoye Boldino is a village in the Nizhny Novgorod region, known for being the ancestral estate of the poet Alexander Pushkin. Of all the estates of the Pushkin family, only the Boldino estate was not destroyed during the revolutions and wars. Nowadays the historical part of the village is a cultural monument of federal significance. The original master’s house, where the poet lived when he came to Boldino, has been preserved here. The outbuilding and outbuildings have been restored, as well as the estate park of 8.5 hectares, with ancient ponds and trees left from Pushkin’s times.

There are two monuments to Alexander Pushkin in Bolshoi Boldino. The first, more famous monument stands near the building of the museum-reserve. Sculptor O. K. Komov depicted the poet sitting on a bench. The second monument – the work of S. D. Merkurov – is located away from the estate. Pushkin is depicted in full height, in motion, with his head slightly lowered and hands clasped behind his back. In addition to monuments to the poet, there are several monuments of the Soviet era in Bolshoi Boldino: V. I. Lenin, a sculptural bust of F. E. Dzerzhinsky, a memorial to the fallen in the Great Patriotic War. In addition, on June 2, 2018, during the Pushkin Poetry Festival in Bolshoi Boldin near the Church of the Assumption of the Mother of God, a bust of Blessed Prince Alexander Nevsky was unveiled.
