Betta is a small picturesque village on the Black Sea coast, part of the coastal zone of the resort town of Gelendzhik. Resort village is remote from the city 46 km to the south and is located far from busy highways, so in and around Betta preserved a clean natural zone. In the village and near it in abundance grow Crimean and pizundskie pines, junipers, thuys and acacias.

Highlights

Translated from the Adygean language, Betta means “humpbacked”. Most likely, such a name the settlement received because of the hilly terrain surrounding it. The history of Betta began in 1896, when mining workers who came to the southern borders of the Russian state for work settled here.

Legally, Betta has the status of a farm, which is permanently inhabited by about 1000 people. Local residents are actively engaged in growing apples and peaches, so that in the summer no one is left without inexpensive fruit. Houses and streets are built in the valley of the river of the same name, which flows into the Black Sea. From the west, the nearest neighbor of Betta is the resort village of Krinitsa, and from the east – Arkhipo-Osipovka.

Tourists appreciate these places for good pebble beaches, clear sea, lush green surroundings, developed infrastructure and budget vacation. Even in the peak tourist season vacation in the resort village is cheaper than in Gelendzhik itself, and even more so in Sochi.

Despite the small size and seclusion of Betty, rest here can be considered quite civilized. The village has its own promenade with cafes and restaurants, as well as many modern guest houses and mini-hotels. In addition, resort guests receive several resorts, recreation centers, hotels and health complex. Most of the residential sector is located on a hill, 300 meters from the sea shore. There are hotels offering expensive accommodation near the sea. Acceptable affordable options can always be found in the private sector and camping.

Rest in Betta is popular with parents with children, fans of diving, windsurfing and underwater hunting. Here come those who, in addition to swimming and lying on the beach, it is interesting to be on excursions to natural and historical sites, as well as hiking in the surrounding forests. Several travel agencies organize jeep and ATV rides from Betta on the beautiful foothills and valleys of mountain rivers.

Beaches of Betta

Betty’s municipal beach is located in the center of the resort village and you can get to it along Podgornaya Street. Pebble beach with deposits of sand stretches a wide strip 300 meters west of the mouth of the Betty River. Due to the stony surface here it is more comfortable to be in beach slippers.

For resorts on the beach there is a full set of entertainment for a pleasant vacation – rent chairs and sun beds, changing rooms, showers and toilets. Attractions of Betta Farm

One of the most romantic places in Betta is the observation deck located on top of a steep cliff. The platform and the gazebo-rotunda on it are surrounded by dense thickets of Caucasian vegetation. From here there is a beautiful view of the residential area of Betta, the coastal floor and the Black Sea. The gazebo is perfectly visible from the central beach. To get to the observation deck, you need to cross the bridge to the left bank of the Betta River and climb up the stairs.

Another interesting place is the blue staircase leading from the vacation home on top of the ridge to the wild beach. The staircase was built in the middle of the last century and is called “blue” by the color of the railing. It is laid on a fairly steep slope and has over 300 steps.

On the western outskirts of the resort village is Cape Chugovkopas, from the top of which opens a beautiful panorama of forested ridges and the sea coast. The steep slopes of Chugovkapas are covered with coniferous trees. To admire this picturesque place come almost all tourists staying in Betta.

Cafes and canteens

In Betta there are many places where you can have a snack, a dense lunch or dinner in the company of friends. During the summer season in the resort village works about two dozen canteens, cafes, restaurants, bars, cheburechnaya and bistros, designed for tourists. Most of them are concentrated near the seafront, Podgornaya Street and Mira Street.

The assortment of local canteens and snack bars includes first and second courses, various appetizers, salads, desserts and drinks. Many establishments offer visitors to try meat cooked on the grill, as well as fresh pizza and pastries. At the height of the season in any place on the Black Sea coast it is difficult to count on low prices, however, in Betta food is noticeably cheaper than in Sochi.

The hotels in the resort village have their own restaurants and bars. And in many guest houses for the convenience of guests created kitchens, where you can cook your own food. Of course, a small resort village does not have the same range of entertainment facilities as Gelendzhik or Tuapse. However, in Betta there are places where it is not boring. In the village are open a small movie theater, billiards and trampoline “Tarzanka.”

In addition, in Betta is located popular disco bar “Flagman” – the largest in size dance floor on the entire Black Sea coast of the Krasnodar region. It can accommodate 2000 guests at a time. “Flagman” is equipped with the most modern light and music equipment, and there are regularly held large rock concerts and bike parties. Often the capital’s stars perform in the disco bar.

At 6 km from Betta, closer to Gelendzhik, is the resort village of Krinitsa. On its beach there is also a lot of entertainment – sports trampoline, air hockey, table tennis, billiards and beach volleyball. A children’s maze, inflatable trampoline-ship, “Spider-Man” maze and inflatable slide are open for children in the coastal zone. In Krinitsa you can attend therapeutic massage sessions, play slippery soccer, ride a tablet and a banana, and rent a jet ski.

Excursions around Betta

Having arrived in Betta, it is not necessary to spend all the time on the beach. From the resort village you can make a lot of interesting independent tours along the coast or visit the excursions that are offered by local travel agencies.

For half a day or one day it is convenient to go to Gelendzhik. This is a beautiful resort city, where there is an arranged waterfront, two modern water parks, dolphinarium, history and local history museum, amusement park, entertainment complex “Olympus” and a large safari park. Independent trip to Gelendzhik will cost inexpensive and will allow you to see a lot of interesting things.

The same day tours can be made in the valley of the river Zhane, which is famous for picturesque waterfalls and dolmens. Monuments of megalithic culture are also in the village of Pshada, standing on the highway between Gelendzhik and Arkhipo-Osipovka. In addition, from Betta is not difficult to go on excursions to Pshadsky and Plisetsky waterfalls, as well as to the waterfalls in the Melnichnaya gap.

How to get there

The nearest airport to Betta is in Gelendzhik. However, only planes from Moscow fly to this city. From other Russian cities, you can fly to Krasnodar airport, located 167 km from Betta.

To get from Krasnodar to Betta, from the city bus station by shuttle bus to Pshada, and from there get to the resort village by cab. From Gelendzhik to Betta there are buses and cabs.

If you get from the Black Sea coast of the Caucasus by train, you need to go to Novorossiysk. From this city there are several options for access to Betta. The simplest, but not cheap – directly from the railway station to leave by cab (86 km). In addition, you can take public transportation to Novorossiysk bus station, from there you can take a shuttle bus to Gelendzhik, and from Gelendzhik to Betta take a shuttle bus or cab.

It is convenient for motorists to get to the resort village via Krasnodar, Goryachiy Klyuch, Pshada, Beregovoye and Krinitsa.
