Berlin Zoo is the oldest zoo in Germany and one of those rare places where animals forced to live in captivity are not only not sympathetic, but also a little envious. General Information
The Berlin Zoo has long since evolved from an ordinary recreational facility into a serious organization actively involved in 120 experimental programs for the protection and breeding of rare animals. It is in the enclosures of the German capital inhabit the only pandas in all of Germany – Jiao Qing and Meng Meng. Local specialists are also engaged in the preservation of populations of endangered species. In particular, bearded vultures, which once inhabited the Alps but had become almost extinct by the 20th century, have been bred and released into the wild here.

And the fact that the institution’s business is not bad, and for quite a long time, becomes clear already at the entrance. The massive Asian-style archway, which is held on their backs 27-ton stone elephants, cost the first management of the zoo in a tidy sum, but even then, Berlin animal lovers did not ask questions about saving money.
To get acquainted with all the residents of the zoo in Berlin, you will have to spend at least a day, but it is not tiring at all, good infrastructure here at the level and to the city center – a few minutes. In particular, on the territory of the institution there are pleasant cafes, where you can always take a pause and rest from the overabundance of impressions.
.For the younger generation there is a playground, on which sports equipment is so interesting to practice agility, and a contact corner, where animals can be touched and fed from hands. Besides, if you have a desire and extra money, you can organize a children’s birthday party in the Berlin Zoo – it is not cheap, but memorable. The public life of the city does not pass by the institution either – entertainment programs, excursions, mini-festivals, timed to commemorative dates and not only, are organized here several times a month.
