Bequia Island

Bequia Island belongs to the Grenadines archipelago and is part of the state of St. Vincent and the Grenadines. It is located 14 km from the island of St. Vincent. Its name translates as “Island of Clouds”. The area of Bequia is only 18 km², which is inhabited by about 5,000 people. The administrative center and the largest city is Port Elizabeth. Formerly, the island of Bequia was a center of shipbuilding and whale hunting, but now it specializes in tourism. The Oldheg Reserve, which protects the endangered Bissa turtle, is a must-see. In addition, the island hosts the annual Easter Regatta, which attracts participants from all over the Caribbean.
