Bavaro Beach
Bavaro is a popular resort located in the east of the Dominican Republic, in the province of Altagracia. It is often referred to as “royal” because some of the best hotels in the world are built here, or “Playa Bavaro” because of its long stretch of white sand beach area.
There are other reasons why the resort attracts tens of thousands of vacationers every year. Bavaro is closest to one of the three international airports in the country – Punta Cana, where most tourists fly to.

About 30 years ago, a dense mangrove forest grew on the site of the resort village, which came right up to the white-sand beaches. During this time, almost from scratch along the coastal zone appeared modern tourist infrastructure. Comfortable hotels were built here, and an elite resort emerged, which nowadays has the status of one of the best in the Dominican Republic.
.Bavaro is famous for its beautiful clean beaches. The shoreline is separated from the open ocean by a coral reef, and so bathers are safely protected from storms and large dangerous waves.

This Dominican resort is suitable for travelers with children, as well as those who like a less noisy, secluded vacation. The long beach promenade is ideal for walking and jogging, and those who like to sit around with friends can always find suitable bars and cafes nearby.

Bavaro’s equipped beachfront stretches for 50 kilometers. Most of the resort’s beaches are private, as they belong to certain hotels. But there are also beaches for public access.

There are many water attractions and activities in Bavaro: catamaran and kayak rides, water skiing and banana boat rides, scooters and sailing yachts. Snorkeling, diving, parasailing and deep sea fishing are also available. The resort also offers speedboat rides.

Almost all of the hotels you can stay at in Bavaro are all-inclusive and have a 3-5 star level of service. The oldest hotel in the resort is the Barselo, and one of the newly built ones is the five-star Now Larimar Resort. Most of the hotels are relatively expensive. But that doesn’t mean you can’t rent cheap accommodation in Bavaro. You can save money by renting a room in gesthouses or staying in a hostel, but there are not many options for budget accommodation.

For short distances around the resort of Bavaro, it is convenient to travel by motoconcho. This is the name of a private Dominican cabbie driving a motorcycle. If you want more comfort, you can always order a cab. Another form of public transportation in Bavaro is the guagua shuttle bus. A ride on it costs 30 pesos per person.

‘ class=’fancybox’ >Bavaro- The climate of the Bavaro resort is not much different from the rest of the Dominican Republic. The sun shines 300 days a year and the average temperature stays above +20°C. .
- The tourist police office is located in the center of the resort village, near the Friusa intersection and the bus station. Nearby is the Bavaro Medical Center. .
- As souvenirs from Bavaro bring “Imperial” rum, which is made from sugar cane. Also popular are paintings by local artists, mahogany crafts and jewelry made of amber and turquoise-like larimar stone, which is mined exclusively in the Dominican Republic.
- There is a specific dress code for tourists in Bavaro. Visitors in shorts and short-sleeved shirts are not allowed in most resort clubs and discos, not to mention restaurants and casinos. While vacationing in Bavaro, it is worth trying the local cuisine, which combines island and European culinary traditions. Local chefs are able to cook delicious seafood and grilled fish. Of special note are fish cooked with coconut, salads with mangu onions, fried bananas, san gocho, la bandera and piñonate..
- Shopping is convenient at the Palma Real Shopping Village or Plaza Bávaro. These are large shopping centers, which found a place and fashion boutiques, and souvenir shops, and not bad cafes and restaurants.
How to get there
Punta Cana International Airport, where charter flights from Russia arrive, and Bavaro are separated by 18-24 kilometers. It all depends on what part of the resort you need to get to. A cab ride to Bavaro takes about 10 minutes and costs $20, although local cab drivers, not wanting to miss their advantage, start haggling at $50. You’ll need to speak Spanish to get along with the driver.
.In Bavaro is not difficult to come and from the capital of the Dominican Republic – the city of Santo Domingo. From there to the resort runs a bus “Bavaro Express”, a trip which costs $ 9. This bus arrives at the central bus station of Bavaro, located in the center of the resort village, near Friusa intersection. A cab from the Dominican capital to Bavaro costs about $250.
