Baa Atoll

Baa Atoll is an archipelago in the Maldives consisting of 10 inhabited and 65 uninhabited islands, it is approximately 42 km long. It is located in the far west of the Maldives archipelago, 100 km from Male’. Baa is adjoined by a small atoll Goidu, separated from it by the strait Cardiva. Baa Atoll (together with another atoll of the Maldives – Raa) is part of a larger administrative unit of the archipelago – atoll Maalhosmadulu (Maalhosmadulu).

General Information

The capital of Baa Atoll is the island of Eidafushi with a population of about 3000 inhabitants. Eidafushi is one of the country’s largest fishing centers. In addition, the island is known as a place where an important element of traditional Maldivian costume, the feili skirt, is produced.
