Atafu Atoll

Atafu Coral Atoll is considered the northernmost and smallest among the three atolls of Tokelau. It consists of forty-two “motu” islets. Their total area combined equals 3.5 square kilometers. In the east and northeast, the ancient reefs almost merge together to form the long strip of Hakataga-Motu.

Today, Atafu is honored for its large canoes, which were used by the ancient settlers to conquer the vast expanse of ocean.
