‘‘Interesting fact: the plant was founded in the late 19th century and at different times was engaged in the production of instruments for steam locomotives, products for submarines, aviation and metro construction. In the mid-2000s, production was relocated to the Saratov region, freeing up space for Artplay.
.
According to the founder of the Artplay Design Center, the space originally resembled Noah’s Ark. On one territory next door there were: a creative center, an assembly line of manometers, law firms, a pump sales organization, Internet providers, travel companies and insurers.
In 2007, the active transformation of the complex began. Here’s what was accomplished over the next 9 years:.- A cost-effective plan was drawn up;
- evicted all former tenants;
- developed the buildings in the historic part of the plant;
- prepared premises for new tenants;
- reconstructed the central building.
In 2016, the Design Center received a part of the Pluto plant, specializing in the production of microwave devices. In 2020, Artplay was awarded the status of Moscow’s first creative technopark.
