Anjouan Island

Anjouan Island is located in the Indian Ocean. It is part of the Comoros group of islands, being the second largest among them. The area of Anjouan is 424 km². About 300 thousand people live here. The administrative center and the largest city of the island is Mutsamudu. From 2007 to 2008 on the territory of Anjouan there was an unrecognized state of the same name, which was liquidated during the operation on the island. The subspecies of Anjouan Island hawk, which is believed to be extinct, was formerly common in the territory. Anjouan Island is agrarian, so in search of accommodation, tourists choose from only a few small hotels. There are no landscaped beaches, however, if desired, you can find small areas suitable for swimming. The best time to visit Comoros and Anjouan in particular is the dry season, which lasts from April to November.
