Amber settlement

Amber Village is a resort on the Baltic Sea, which has every chance to take over the initiative from the longtime popular among tourists Zelenogradsk and Svetlogorsk. It boasts the cleanest and widest beaches on the coast of the Kaliningrad region, curious architecture, intensively developing infrastructure of hospitality. The village is also famous for the fact that in its vicinity is the largest deposit of amber on the planet, where 90% of the explored reserves of this wonderful stone are concentrated.

Highlights

The village of Amber, located on historic Prussian lands, was known as Palmniken until the end of World War II. It was virtually unscathed during the fighting, but fell into disrepair during the Soviet era. Amber began to gradually regain its attractiveness in the 1990s, and in the last decade the results of the labors to improve it have become increasingly evident.

Yantarny village from a height

The beaches of the village were the first in Russia to be honored with the Blue Flag. Its almost 2-kilometer promenade is known throughout the region, and the lake, formed on the site of a closed quarry, has become a popular recreational area and diving center. Historical architectural monuments are being revived in Yantarny, and one of them has housed a 5-star hotel since 2010. Resort guests are welcomed by other quite comfortable hotels, cozy guest houses, campsites. Coastal cafes are equipped with terraces, where you can enjoy romantic views of the Baltic Sea, which, by the way, is usually calm here.

In the village, whose life is inseparable from the amber industry, tourists will find curious museums dedicated to the sunny stone, salons and shops where you can inexpensively buy products created from it. Every year there are regional and all-Russian competitions in beach volleyball, soccer, rugby, swimming, as well as music festivals, colorful festivals dedicated to amber.
