Citadel Aleppo

Citadel Aleppo is located in the eponymous Aleppo in northern Syria. The fortress is a huge hill around a moat with walls and towers erected. The slopes of the hill, steep up to 48°, were once completely faced with stone, presenting one massive talus below the walls and towers. The Aleppo Citadel played a significant role during the Crusades, being a stronghold alternately of the Crusaders and Muslims.
