Adler
Adler is the southernmost resort of Russia and one of the most popular in our country. Despite the fact that it is often considered as a separate settlement, it is actually one of the districts of Sochi and the center of the district of the same name. But de facto Adler is really an independent resort town, well-equipped and self-sufficient, which is often called Sochi’s “little brother”. In the first half of the 80’s here were filmed some episodes of the cult Soviet series “Confrontation” with Oleg Basilashvili in the title role. His hero, police colonel Kostenko, was hunting for a traitor to the Motherland, hiding from justice, including in Adler: the name of the city often appears in the credits throughout the movie.

In 1817, the Caucasian War began, associated with the annexation of the mountainous regions to the Russian Empire. From this period, when there was a need to create defensive structures on the Black Sea coast, the history of Adler begins. The first such fortification on the territory of the current settlement appeared in the 30s of the XIX century.
.
By the end of the 1800s in the settlement there were just over 120 people, the national composition of which was very diverse – Russians, Ukrainians, Belarusians, Moldavians. This was the so-called official population, in addition to which foreigners also lived here. From cultural and educational institutions there were only a village school with one class of education and the Holy Spirit Orthodox Church.

The three 15-meter slides united by the common name “Kamikaze” are especially mesmerizing.
